About Walnut
Short answer
Walnut is an AI investing app that works on top of the brokerage account you already have. It reads every holding, checks each one against the S&P 500, and answers questions about your real portfolio in plain English, including what to keep, trim or sell. When you want to buy, it splits an amount across a basket and sends the orders to Public or eight other brokers, only after you approve the plan.

Why Walnut exists
Most people who invest already have an account somewhere, at Robinhood, Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard or Public. What they lack is a second pair of eyes on it: someone who can see what they actually own and say what is working, what is lagging and what is too big a share of the whole. General AI chatbots cannot see the account, and robo-advisors only help if you hand them your money. Walnut sits in between: an assistant that reads the account you keep, and leaves every decision with you.
What Walnut does
It connects the brokers you already use and puts them in one view, checks each holding against the S&P 500, answers questions about your portfolio, turns an idea into a basket of stocks you can buy, rebalances baskets back to their targets, runs recurring investments from cash already at your broker, and tells you when something changes while you are not looking. The full walkthrough is in what does Walnut do?, every feature is on the features page, and every broker it connects to is on the brokers page.
What Walnut does not do
Walnut does not hold your money or shares, move money from your bank, trade without your approval, sell for you, or manage your account on your behalf. It is not a broker and not a registered investment adviser, and what it says about your portfolio is information, not personal advice. How your data is handled is covered in is Walnut safe? and the privacy policy.
Pricing
The app is free to use, and there is no fee on assets. Walnut Unlimited, $9.99 a month plus applicable tax, is sold on the web and removes the assistant's per-session limit. The details are on the Walnut pricing page.

FAQ
What is Walnut?
+
Walnut is an AI investing app. It connects to the brokerage accounts you already have, checks every holding against the S&P 500, answers questions about your real portfolio, and places buys only after you approve them.
Is Walnut on iPhone and Android?
+
Yes. Walnut Invest is on the App Store and Google Play, and the same account works on the web at walnutinvest.com. Walnut Unlimited is sold on the web only; the apps show no price.
How much does Walnut cost?
+
Walnut is free to use, with no fee on assets. Walnut Unlimited, $9.99 a month plus applicable tax on the web, removes the assistant's per-session limit and changes nothing else. Your broker may charge its own fees.
How is Walnut different from ChatGPT?
+
ChatGPT has no view of your brokerage account, so it answers in general terms. Walnut's assistant starts from the holdings your broker reports, and it can place buys you approve at Public and eight other brokers. You can also connect Walnut to ChatGPT or Claude so they can read your portfolio.
How is Walnut different from a robo-advisor?
+
A robo-advisor such as Betterment or Wealthfront holds your money, picks the mix and trades it for a yearly fee on assets. Walnut works on the account you already have, charges no fee on assets, and leaves every decision with you.
Does Walnut hold my money?
+
No. Your money and your shares stay at your broker, under your name. Walnut reads the account, and for buys you approve it sends the order to that broker. It never moves money from your bank.
