Choosing a broker, and connecting it to an AI, answered plainly.
Short answer
The one you already use. Every broker Walnut connects is read in full, so an AI can explain any of them. Public and Robinhood also take buys you approve, and so do E*Trade, tastytrade, Webull and five more.
Switching brokers to get an AI is rarely worth it. Moving an account takes days, can cost a transfer fee, and the AI's read is the same either way. Start with what you have. If it already takes approved orders, buys work there too; if not, Public and Robinhood are the two to open for that.

Only where the broker allows it. Public takes orders from connected apps, and Robinhood lets outside AI tools trade in a separate Agentic account. E*Trade, tastytrade, Webull, moomoo, Questrade, Wealthsimple, Trading 212 and Stake also take orders you approve. At Fidelity, Vanguard and Schwab, you place orders at the broker.
Even where trading is open, Walnut never places an order on its own. It shows the trade, the amounts and the broker, and buys only after you approve.

To connect any broker
Short answer
Yes, when the connection uses the broker's own sign-in. You enter your password at the broker, the app receives access to your accounts and never your login, and you can disconnect it at any time.
Your money also stays where it is. Walnut never holds or moves money, so connecting moves nothing and closes nothing.

Quick answers
- Do I need to switch brokers to use Walnut?
- No. Connect the broker you already have. Walnut reads it in full either way.
- Can I connect more than one broker?
- Yes. Every account you connect shows up together, so you can ask about all of it at once.
- Which brokers can Walnut buy through?
- Public, and Robinhood through a Robinhood Agentic account. E*Trade, tastytrade, Webull (US and Canada), moomoo, Questrade, Wealthsimple, Trading 212 and Stake take them too. Elsewhere you place orders yourself.
- Does Walnut hold my money?
- No. Your money stays at your broker. Walnut never holds or moves it.
- Can I disconnect a broker later?
- Yes, from the Brokerage screen in Walnut or from your broker's own security settings.
- Does connecting cost anything?
- No. Connecting a broker is free, and so is the assistant up to a per-session allowance.

Walnut is an AI financial advisor app; it is not a registered investment adviser. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell a security. Broker fees, products and availability change, so check the current terms with the broker.
Connect the broker you have. Ask it anything.
About a minute. Your login stays at your broker.
