AI features
No AI investing tool of its own, yet
We found no AI assistant for self-directed Investor's Edge clients as of October 2026. CIBC's 2026 AI launches, such as AdvisorAssist, are built for its advisors, not for the people who invest on their own.
Where Walnut fits
Investor's Edge shows each position and its return. Walnut reads it next to TD, Questrade or any other broker you connect, puts every holding against the S&P 500, and lets you ask about all of it in one place.

Everything else people ask about CIBC Investor's Edge, answered plainly.
Short answer
Yes, especially for CIBC banking clients. Online stock and ETF trades cost $6.95, or $0 for investors under 25 with a CIBC Smart Start account. There is no minimum balance, and fractional orders start at $1, commission-free until October 2027.
It offers the registered accounts most Canadians start with, TFSA, FHSA, RRSP and RESP, plus RRIF, locked-in and non-registered accounts. The catch for a small account is the $100 annual fee when your total balance is $10,000 or less, which new clients skip for their first year and young and student investors skip entirely.
Fractional trading covers over a thousand US stocks and ETFs, from $1 up to $500 an order. What the app does not show is the whole picture when CIBC is one account among several: which holdings repeat across your TFSA and RRSP, and how each one has done against the S&P 500.

CIBC Investor's Edge is a division of CIBC Investor Services Inc., a CIBC subsidiary regulated by CIRO and a CIPF member. If a member firm fails, CIPF covers up to $1 million across general accounts, TFSAs and FHSAs included, with separate limits for retirement and education accounts. It does not cover market losses.
Connecting Investor's Edge to Walnut uses a secure connection where you sign in at CIBC. Walnut never sees or stores your CIBC password, reads your holdings without placing orders, and you can disconnect from Walnut's Brokerage screen at any time.

Short answer
Not directly. We found no official CIBC connector for ChatGPT or Claude as of October 2026. Walnut reads your Investor's Edge accounts, and its connector for Claude and ChatGPT lets either assistant answer questions about those holdings, read-only and with no API key.
The assistant can say what the account leans on, which positions are over a quarter of it and how each one has done against the S&P 500. It cannot place a trade at CIBC: orders are placed in Investor's Edge, by you.
