AI features
No AI investing tool of its own, yet
We found no AI assistant for TD Direct Investing clients as of October 2026. TD's generative AI work, such as the virtual assistant TD Securities piloted in July 2025, is built for its own staff.
Where Walnut fits
WebBroker shows each position and its return. Walnut reads TD next to CIBC, Questrade or any other broker you connect, puts every holding against the S&P 500, and lets you ask about all of it in one place.

Short answer
It suits beginners who bank with TD and want everything in one place. Stock trades cost $9.99, select ETFs are $0 online and partial shares are $1.99 a trade. Accounts under $15,000 pay $25 a quarter unless a waiver applies, such as a $100 monthly contribution.
TD also runs TD Easy Trade, a separate app for stocks and ETFs with 100 free trades a year, then $9.99 a full-share trade. Direct Investing is the fuller service, with WebBroker, the TD app, Advanced Dashboard and TD Active Trader, and accounts that include TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, cash and margin.
The quarterly fee is easy to avoid: household assets over $15,000, a pre-authorized contribution of $100 a month, three commissionable trades in the prior quarter, or being within six months of opening your first account, each waive it. What WebBroker does not show is how TD fits with the accounts you hold elsewhere.

TD Direct Investing is a division of TD Waterhouse Canada Inc., a subsidiary of The Toronto-Dominion Bank and a CIPF member. If a member firm fails, CIPF covers up to $1 million across general accounts, TFSAs and FHSAs included, with separate limits for retirement and education accounts. It does not cover market losses.
Connecting TD Direct Investing to Walnut uses a secure connection where you sign in at TD. Walnut never sees or stores your TD password, reads your holdings without placing orders, and you can disconnect from Walnut's Brokerage screen at any time.

Short answer
Not directly. We found no official TD connector for ChatGPT or Claude as of October 2026. Walnut reads your TD Direct Investing accounts, and its connector for Claude and ChatGPT lets either assistant answer questions about those holdings, read-only and with no API key.
The assistant can say what the account leans on, which positions are over a quarter of it and how each one has done against the S&P 500. It cannot place a trade at TD: orders are placed in WebBroker or the TD app, by you.
Read the full guide: Every way to connect a brokerage to an AI assistantBuying through Walnut works at Public and Robinhood, and at eight other brokers including Wealthsimple, Questrade and E*Trade. TD Direct Investing and CIBC Investor's Edge read in full; orders are placed at the broker.
