AI features
Wealthsimple's AI is for support, not investing
Willow, Wealthsimple's AI assistant, helps with transfers, account openings, promotions and common questions. It gives no detailed financial advice and completes no transactions, so it answers support questions rather than reading your portfolio.
Where Walnut fits
Wealthsimple shows each account and its return. Walnut reads it next to Questrade, Interactive Brokers or any other broker you connect, puts each holding against the S&P 500, and places the buys you approve at Wealthsimple.

Everything else people ask about Wealthsimple, answered plainly.
Short answer
Yes, for Canadians who want low-cost investing in one app. Wealthsimple charges $0 commission on stocks and ETFs, the Core plan starts at $1 in assets, and you can buy fractional shares in CAD or USD. Managed portfolios cost 0.5% a year on Core.
It covers the registered accounts most Canadians start with, TFSA, RRSP, FHSA and RESP, along with RRIF, LIRA and non-registered accounts. The cost to watch is currency: buying a US stock from a CAD account carries a 1.5% FX fee, and a USD account costs $10 a month on Core.
What one app shows less well is the whole picture when Wealthsimple is one account among several. A portfolio-wide read fills that gap: which names appear in more than one account, what the total leans on, and how each holding has done against the S&P 500.

Wealthsimple's investing accounts sit with Wealthsimple Investments Inc., a CIPF member. If a member firm fails, CIPF covers up to $1 million across general accounts and TFSAs, with separate $1 million limits for retirement and education accounts. CIPF does not cover market losses.
Connecting Wealthsimple to Walnut uses a secure connection where you sign in at Wealthsimple. Walnut never sees or stores your Wealthsimple password, holds no money and moves none, and you can disconnect from Walnut's Brokerage screen at any time.

Short answer
Not directly. As of October 2026 Wealthsimple offers no official connector for ChatGPT or Claude, and Willow, its own AI, handles support questions rather than your holdings. An app such as Walnut links Wealthsimple through a secure connection, and its connector lets Claude and ChatGPT read those holdings.
Through Walnut, Wealthsimple is read in full: every position you link, each one against the S&P 500, and a keep, trim or exit read per holding. Walnut also places the buys you approve in your Wealthsimple account; sells you place in the Wealthsimple app yourself.
