Everything else people ask about Fidelity, answered plainly.

Is Fidelity good for beginners?

Short answer

Yes. Fidelity has no minimum to open an account, IRAs included, no account service fee, $0 online commissions on US stocks and ETFs, and fractional shares from $1. Fidelity Go, its robo advisor, charges nothing under $25,000.

Fidelity suits someone saving for the long run as much as someone buying a first stock. Retirement accounts, index funds and research all sit in one place, and a beginner can start with a few dollars instead of the price of a whole share.

What Walnut adds is a plain read on the whole portfolio, across every broker you use: whether a few large names now carry most of the risk, and how each holding has done against the S&P 500 over the past year.

Is Fidelity safe?

Short answer

Fidelity's brokerage is a SIPC member, so securities are protected up to $500,000, including $250,000 for cash, if the firm fails. Fidelity adds excess of SIPC coverage on top. Neither covers market losses.

Connecting Fidelity to Walnut runs through a secure connection where you sign in at Fidelity. Walnut never sees or stores your Fidelity password, holds no money and moves none, and you can disconnect from Walnut's Brokerage screen at any time.

Can Fidelity connect to ChatGPT or Claude?

Short answer

Not directly. As of October 2026 Fidelity has no official connector for ChatGPT or Claude. An app such as Walnut links Fidelity through a secure connection, and its connector lets Claude and ChatGPT read those holdings with no API key.

Through Walnut, Fidelity is read in full: every position, each one against the S&P 500, and a keep, trim or exit read per holding. Orders are not placed from Walnut at Fidelity, so any trade the assistant describes is one you place at Fidelity yourself.
