Your Zerodha, in Walnut
ConnectedWhich of my Zerodha holdings carry the most weight?
Two banks and one IT name make up just under half of the portfolio, and one sits above a quarter on its own, so Walnut flags it and shows why.

AI features
What Zerodha's own AI does
Zerodha ships one AI product, Kite MCP. It connects a Kite account to Claude and other AI tools at no charge.
Kite MCP
A hosted connector, run by Zerodha, that lets an AI assistant read your holdings, positions, margins and live market data from Kite.
Read-only by design
Zerodha describes every operation as read-only. The one thing the assistant can set up is a GTT order; regular order placement is not offered.
Which assistants it names
Zerodha's setup guide covers Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf and VS Code with Copilot. It does not list ChatGPT.
Where Walnut fits
Kite MCP sees Zerodha. Walnut reads Zerodha next to any other broker you connect, puts each holding against the S&P 500, flags any one name over a quarter of the portfolio, and answers questions about all of it in one place.

Short answer
For a long-term investor in India it is one of the cheapest places to start. Zerodha charges no brokerage on equity delivery trades and no commission on direct mutual funds, and opening an individual account is free.
The costs a beginner can miss sit around the trade rather than in it. Each time a stock is sold from the demat account, Zerodha charges a DP fee of ₹15.34 per scrip, and after the first year a non-BSDA account pays ₹300 a year plus GST in maintenance.
What Kite does not give is a read on the whole portfolio: whether a few banks or IT names now carry most of the risk, or how each holding has done against a benchmark. That is the gap an AI that reads the account can close.

Zerodha Broking is registered with SEBI as a stock broker (INZ000031633) and as a depository participant (IN-DP-431-2019), and is a member of NSE, BSE, MCX and MSEI. Shares you buy sit in a demat account in your name. None of that protects against market losses.
Connecting Zerodha to Walnut runs through a secure connection where you sign in at Zerodha. Walnut never sees or stores your Zerodha password, holds no money and moves none, and you can disconnect from Walnut's Brokerage screen at any time.

Short answer
Zerodha connects to Claude through Kite MCP, a free, read-only connector it runs itself, launched in May 2025. Zerodha's guide does not list ChatGPT. Walnut links Zerodha through a secure connection, and its connector lets both Claude and ChatGPT read those holdings.
The two do different jobs. Kite MCP gives an assistant Zerodha data on its own. Through Walnut, Zerodha is read next to any other account you connect, each holding is set against the S&P 500, and each gets a keep, trim or exit read. Orders are not placed from Walnut at Zerodha, so any trade the assistant describes is one you place in Kite.
