AI features
Wells Fargo's AI handles banking, not investing
Fargo, the AI assistant in the Wells Fargo Mobile app since 2023, helps with Zelle payments, bills and spending. AI Teammate, launched July 2026, is for advisors. We found neither described as reading a WellsTrade portfolio.
Where Walnut fits

Everything else people ask about WellsTrade, answered plainly.
Short answer
Yes, for buying stocks and ETFs at a bank you already use. WellsTrade has no minimum to open, charges $0 for online stock and ETF trades, and sells fractional shares from $10 through Stock Fractions in the Wells Fargo Mobile app.
Stock Fractions has limits worth knowing. It covers a list of hundreds of stocks and ETFs rather than every security, takes orders only during regular market hours, and each buy runs from $10 to $25,000.
What WellsTrade does not show is how the pieces fit. A brokerage account and two IRAs each report on their own, so a heavy tilt to one stock or one sector across all three is easy to miss, especially for anyone who also holds Wells Fargo shares.

WellsTrade accounts are offered through Wells Fargo Clearing Services, a SIPC member, so securities are protected up to $500,000, including $250,000 for cash, if the firm fails. SIPC does not cover market losses, and securities are not FDIC insured.
Connecting Wells Fargo to Walnut uses a secure connection, and you sign in at Wells Fargo. Walnut never sees or stores the password, never holds or moves money, and you can disconnect from Walnut's Brokerage screen at any time.

Short answer
We found no official Wells Fargo connector for ChatGPT or Claude as of October 2026, and its own assistant, Fargo, handles banking tasks. Walnut links a WellsTrade account through a secure connection, read only, and its connector brings those holdings into Claude and ChatGPT.
Through Walnut the assistant sees your WellsTrade stocks, ETFs and funds at live prices, next to anything you hold at other brokers. It reads and explains; orders for a WellsTrade account are still placed at Wells Fargo.

Online stock and ETF trades are $0, and online options cost $0.65 a contract. A stock or ETF trade placed with an agent by phone costs $25, a no-load transaction-fee mutual fund costs $35, and moving the whole account out costs $49.95.
No-load, no-transaction-fee mutual funds are $0 to buy, though each fund still charges its own expenses inside the fund. Intuitive Investor, the Wells Fargo robo advisor, adds a 0.35% yearly advisory fee on top of fund costs and needs $500 to open.
