Directory integrations versus custom servers
This distinction explains most of the confusion in this area, and it is worth ten seconds. A directory integration is a list the assistant maintains: the provider applies, the assistant approves, and you pick from what is there. A custom server is a field where you paste any URL and the assistant connects to it.
The two look identical in a settings screen and behave completely differently for you. If an assistant only offers a directory, then whether you can connect your portfolio depends entirely on whether your provider happens to be listed, which is a commercial question rather than a technical one. Why do you not just publish setup guides for all of them?
