How to read your own portfolio, answered plainly.

What is a portfolio analysis?

Short answer

It checks how each holding is doing and how much of your money it holds. Walnut runs one on every holding you connect, across every broker.

How does Walnut decide keep, trim or exit?

Short answer

Over a year, in line with the S&P 500 or ahead, with no red flag, is keep. Too big or losing momentum is trim. Far behind for a long time, with weak momentum, is exit.

Each verdict has a one-line reason. The assistant can check recent news on a name first.

How concentrated is too concentrated?

Short answer

Walnut flags any single holding above 25% of your portfolio. Past that point, one company's bad quarter moves your whole balance.

Why doesn't it show my profit since I bought?

Short answer

Most brokers don't share what you paid, so Walnut uses each holding's price return over the last year. Robinhood passes your average cost, so your gain shows there.

Read the full guide: What is cost basis?

Quick answers

Does it sell anything for me?
No. Nothing is sold without your approval.
Does it include all my brokers?
Yes, every account you connect. Outside accounts count toward totals but get no per-holding read.
How often is it updated?
Holdings sync several times each weekday during market hours. Prices refresh every few hours.
Does it cost anything?
No, it's free. Walnut Unlimited, $9.99 a month on the web, lifts the assistant's session limit.
Does it look inside my ETFs?
No. A fund is read as one holding, by its own return.
