Short answer
Buying and selling to bring holdings back to the weights you chose after prices moved them.
Walnut does it per basket, in percentage points. A 25% target now at 32% reads as 7 points over.

Target weight times basket value, minus what the holding is worth now, turned into shares. A gap under $1 reads as hold.
Shares go to four decimals, so fractional orders work. The dollar value moves with the price.

Short answer
No. You copy the list and place it at your broker. Walnut never sells for you.
You can also ask the assistant, for example: which basket is furthest from its targets?

Quick answers
- Does Walnut rebalance automatically?
- No. Nothing is bought or sold until you place it at your broker.
- Can it rebalance my whole brokerage account?
- No, it works per basket. Holdings outside a basket have no target.
- Can I get told when a basket is off target?
- Yes. Set a line on the basket or ask the assistant to watch it. Alerts come at most once a week.
- Why does my basket show nothing to rebalance?
- It has no positions until you buy into it through Walnut.
- Does it account for taxes on a sale?
- No. Most brokers don't share your purchase price.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Walnut Unlimited, $9.99 a month on the web, only lifts the assistant's session limit.
