How it works

From a sentence to an alert

  1. Ask in your own words

"Tell me if NVDA hits $200."

  2. Walnut checks every hour

Against delayed prices and the earnings calendar.

  3. You hear about it when it fires

Notification, email and phone push, linked to the assistant.

What it can watch

Five kinds of alert, plus a recap

Plus a daily or weekly recap at the hour you pick.

  • Above/belowA stock or fund crossing your priceFires once, then done.
  • 1% to 50%A move in a single day, either wayAt most once per trading day.
  • 1 to 50 ptsA basket moving away from its targetsDefault 5, at most weekly.
  • 0 to 14 daysA reminder before an earnings reportDefault the day before.

The rules

Four rules every alert follows.

An alert is not a stop or limit order.

  • Once per event

    No duplicates.

  • Checks written down

Last checked and last fired, kept 60 days.

  • Never for the past

A recap over a day late is skipped.

  • Nothing bought on its own

A prepared step waits for your yes.

How do I set a stock price alert in Walnut?

Short answer

Ask the assistant, or the Claude and ChatGPT connector: "tell me when NVDA reaches $200". It checks hourly and alerts you when crossed.

Pause, resume or stop alerts on the Alerts page. Up to 25 can be active.

What can Walnut alert me about?

Short answer

A price level, a 1% to 50% daily move, a basket off target, an earnings date, or a daily or weekly recap.

Basket alerts need something bought through Walnut.

A recap covers value, return vs the S&P 500, top movers and earnings in the next seven days.

Can an alert buy or sell for me?

Short answer

No. You can prepare a next step, and it waits in the assistant for your yes.

Prices are delayed, so an alert can arrive late. Use a stop or limit order at your broker for an exact exit.

Quick answers

Do I need to connect a broker for alerts?
Not for price, move or earnings alerts. Recaps need connected holdings.
How fast does an alert arrive?
Checked hourly on delayed prices, sometimes hours behind. Good for a heads-up, not a fast exit.
Can I turn off the emails?
Yes. Ask for an alert without email; it still reaches the app.
Can I set alerts from Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes, through the Walnut connector.
Where do earnings dates come from?
Nasdaq's public earnings calendar, up to three weeks ahead.
Does a daily move alert stop after it fires?
No, it can fire on another trading day. Price alerts fire once.
